Now, a year later, Cedar Fair owns King’s Island and has re-named their Halloween-Themed event as The Halloween Haunt. I don’t care what they call it…I just can’t wait to go again this year!
It’s being said that the Halloween Haunt will be even bigger than last year’s Fear Fest. That’s a good thing. Evidently there were several complaints last year about waiting in long lines and not being able to see many of the attractions. Leslie and I didn’t have that problem, but we went the first weekend it was held. So I guess it could have gotten worse as Halloween got closer.
Anyhow, to help decrease the number of complaints, King’s Island appears to be increasing the quality. New attractions have already been posted. They’re also looking to decrease the number of guests at the park, for they are now adding an additional charge to for the Halloween Haunt event. Fine by me. I’ll pay the extra $.
Thus far, this is what has been released about this year’s event:
ACTION ZONE – 7pm until 1am
NEW FOR 2007!!! This popular night club has never been so bloody good! The club’s exotic dancers are dying to meet you. Come in for a bite. Stay as long as you like. In fact, you can stay forever!
New this year, this one sounds kind of cheesy. But that also means that it could be pretty cool. You see, I don't really care how scary it is...I'm just glad there will be "MORE" to see. I'd rather go through another maze and have it be something mildly scary than run out of things to do.
CONEY MAUL – 7pm until 1am
So, you think the Death penalty is bad? Step inside this sanitarium of slaughter and see what torture is all about! The inmates in this evil prison can’t wait for you to join them on Death Row.
As far as I know, this one is new for 2007 as well. I didn't see anything QUITE like this last year. I don't know if it is a new name on an old attraction, but again, it's something else to do. Thumbs up!
RIVERTOWN – 7pm until 1am
A sense of dark confinement abounds as you tour below the decks of a cursed ship. Evil pirates are ready to challenge even the bravest souls to a duel. Can you get past these swashbucklers and make it out alive? Know this as you try: Dead men tell no tales!
I don't know why Pirates are becoming so acquainted with Halloween. They seem to have replaced the classics: Zombies and vampires. Go to Wal-Mart and look at the Halloween decorations and you will know what I am talking about. I don't understand it. But I love Halloween. And I love pirates. So this one sounds pretty cool to me.
CONEY MAUL – 7pm until 1am
The Manor is for sale and the price has just been reduced! Never mind the rumors of murder and torture – it’s priced to sell. Potential buyers descend into fear as they make their way down creepy corridors, entering one terrifying room after another. Along the way you will encounter many of the Manor’s inhabitants – most of them long since departed.
Ah, one of my favorite attractions last year! It was the first one we did, and I had to lead our group through it. Perhaps those two things made is more scary than it actually was, but either way I have fond memories of this one. I'd love to go through it again this year.
INTERNATIONAL STREET – 7pm until 1am
Join the circus like you wanted to when you were a kid … permanently! Despite the presence of elephants, giraffes and other circus animals, this is not your run-of-the-mill Big Top. Only the most determined will make it out alive.
This one escaped Leslie and I last year. I remember the line was a little long, and Leslie and I were just too tired to do anything else. We had left for KI early that morning and hadn't stopped. Plus, we said that it would give us a reason to go back next year. I don't think it's supposed to be very scary, but that's ok. I'm a sucker for 3D attractions.
CONEY MAUL – 8pm until 1am
Come with plenty of friends to hold on tight if you dare to venture down this darkened path of mindbending terror deep into Kings Island’s woods. Hideous creatures are lurking in the shadows and zombies in advanced stages of decay emerge from bushes and wander mindlessly along the trail in search of new life.
This one was awesome last year! By far my favorite. The line was long but very worth it, for the walkthrough itself was pretty long too. DEFINITELY one to do again this year.
RIVERTOWN TRAIN RIDE – 8pm until 1am
Covered bridges and foggy terrain disguise the evil that lurks in every direction as you travel aboard a midnight train. But don’t be alarmed. We guarantee you’ll make it to your final destination!
This was a Sleepy Hollow-Themed attraction last year. The back-story was cool, and the setting was awesome, but man did this one suck a big one. People working the attraction weren't scary and they didn't do much of anything. Hairy Chewbacca-looking guys would walk past you and zombie Pilgrims watched you as you walked by. BO-RING! This one was in dire need of an upgrade...I hope that got it right this time.
Cornstalkers
INTERNATIONAL STREET (TOWER TO RIVERTOWN) – 8pm until Midnight.
Beware as you wind your way through this frightful cornfield! Countless scarecrows rule the overgrown ruins of the formerly vibrant Rivertown. Built by farmhands to ward off any would-be trespassers, these guardians of rubble take their jobs very seriously. Legend has it intruders make these evil scarecrows come to life!
I remember this from last year, but didn't do it. It's just a setup along the walkway where people try to scare you.
INTERNATIONAL STREET (TOWER TO CONEY MAUL) – 8pm until Midnight
Vacant for years, this worksite has remained untouched and forgotten since the day when something went disastrously wrong. We dare you to enter this undiscovered path of wreckage. Don’t be surprised if you never find your way out. Fear not; someone ... or something is sure to find you.
Same as above. Didn't do it, but still glad it's back. Something to look forward to this season.
INTERNATIONAL STREET (PARAMOUNT STORY) – 8pm until Midnight
You don’t believe in ghost stories? You’re in one when you visit the Cemetery! Experience the darkness, terror and madness as you attempt to make your way around oversized tombstones, monuments and crypts.
This one is new this year. I was wondering that they were going to do with the Paramount Story. Now, through Sept-Oct, I know just that.
SHOWPLACE THEATRE – 9:00, 10:00, 11:00 and Midnight
NEW! If you believe the world is a dark and evil place, then Dead Awakening will re-affirm that! This unique adult-oriented, R-rated contemporary horror and music video style show includes graphic scenes and disturbing activity as you witness a young lady’s gruesome nightmare unfold.
This one is new as well. I'm intrigued by the R-Rated horror. Does that mean they'll be some boobies? Probably not, but I can hope, can't I? Don't know if I will bother with this, but am hoping it will attract others so lines for other things won't be quite as long.
